  • AGST Module 1 (Environmental policy & Rural development studies) invites Professor Raymond Jussaume Jr. to give a lecture titled “Understanding Sustainable Development” from January 26 to 30, 2015.

This Lecture consists of two parts. In the first part, students will review the main theoretical traditions of development sociology, especially modernization theory, dependency theory, and world system theory. As part of this review, the students will also review some of the main empirical examples used to debate these theories, such as the comparative development of Latin American and East Asian societies. In the second part, the students will be required to apply the concepts they have learned to their own empirical interests and to share these with other participants.
