Research Field, Activities and Interests
My dissertation analyzed the Swiss economy and the formation of the cross-border economic region in the 19th century. I translated the final report of the Bergier commission into Japanese and added original research outcomes. My publications in English range broadly in subject matter, exploring multinational enter- prises (MNEs) and political risk, industrial clusters, the paper and pulp industry, and industry policy, and my work examines both European and Japanese cases. Since 2012, I have been organizing a large-scale interna- tional project on the competitiveness of regions, focusing on industrial history.
